Last week review: Negative emotions: fear, greed, & blame

Greed

- Never being satisfied

- Causes dis-ease

- Keeps you from being happy

- You can always be unhappy with yourself.

Class demonstration / discussion:

Try to be happy for 2 minutes with who you are.

Buddhist's way:

- Use Critical Intelligence and practice techniques, like in morning chanting: greed, anger, etc.

4th Way:

-       understands negative emotions with a critical mind to really see clearly in your life how negative emotions effect you.

-       Has a very discrete vision of what greed is. Greed is a state of disease wanting something to be slightly different.

-       Greed is 'mechanical', it is just happening.  You didn't decide, no decision involved, no consciousness.  This is a deep disconnect with yourself and a way to justify self hatred.

-       See that we are constantly upset with every moment.

-       This is not the same as consciously choosing to change something like ending a relationship.

First, all you can do is SEE what you are doing.  Don't need to figure it out. WATCH. Simply see that. Like Gurdjieff's telescope sees you the way you will see yourself. Then, when you observe yourself, the negative emotions will drop away, as opposed to choosing an antidote.

The Reality is that within all of us is the person that is happy.  At our core, we don't believe the many thoughts, emotions or mechanical negativity.  We are not that and don't identify with negative thoughts or emotions.

This way -

- Be effective rather than labor intensive.

- Directing us to meticulously look at ourselves.

- See what reality is, be objective and scientific.

- Be free of your own conditioning or mechanical-ness.

How do we use our will?

You can't use your will yet.  The most effective way is to use your will to see yourself and then build energy.  Once you have enough energy, you can do things.  A person in a house that is burning (mechanical-ness) sees that it's burning.  Then, ask yourself which room is the fire in - greed room, anger room, and fear room?  Put the fire out!

Knowledge - what we know

Being - who you are

Objective knowledge - unity of diversity, unity of everything

Thoughts and ideas see reality as fragmented / segmented.  Everything is one thing.  The one thing you see when reality is not fragmented, then you and reality are the SAME thing.

Next: Use intuition.

Everything is one thing.  You are the one thing.

Everything functions co-dependently and this co-dependent function allows us to function in the world, i.e., tall vs short is dependent

Small groups:

Describe how you are most of the time.  For example: most of the time I am busy, upset....

Closing:

Try to understand. Try hard; give enough effort to hit the turns in the road.  This is between you and yourself.  It's not easy to do.

Objective knowledge is passed down thousands of years to have a little more depth, integrity and meticulous effect.  Work with things, enter in to the path.  It doesn't matter what you see, as this is not a Pass / Fail mode.

Homework:

See what you do.  Write daily about what you do and your emotions.  See what manifest day after day. What you do with your time.  Watch the movie of yourself.  Be in your own film.  Everything is not in you day planner.  What really happened?
